As a member of our study association, you can attend fun events and activities organized by our committees. A committee is a group of people that organizes different kinds of activities for the study association. These activities vary from hosting movie nights to literary pub crawls, to book clubs and our annual city trip! Being a part of a committee gives you the opportunity to get to know the study association and its members and you can develop useful skills and add your own creative touch to our events. Plus, you’ll be working together closely with the rest of your committee, providing the perfect breeding ground for lasting friendships. The social aspects of joining a committee are often seen as the most valuable ones!
The five committees consisting of Film and Literature, Theatre and Culture, Magazine and Travel committees as well as the Party committee are groups of Euphorion members which come together under these common interests to organise and enjoy activities with fellow peers. Some popular events of last school year include the ‘Winter Gala’, poetry night, theatre-café festival, museum crawl, the annual Euphorion trip and the publication of our magazine ‘Erato’s Magazine’.
In order to be part of a committee, all you need to do is be a member of Euphorion!
Party Committee
Board Member: Ruben
This year marks the birth of a new committee, the Party Committee. This staple of every Study Association aims to provide some well-needed stress relief through fun. Tasks of the committee include organising (themed) borrels and of course a party when the need is for it. Contact with other study associations is key, because as with parties: the more, the merrier.
Do you like to help fellow students unwind after stressful weeks? Do you like to make new friends and contacts in our programme and the faculty? If your answer is yes, the Party Committee would be your perfect fit!
Film and Literature Committee
Board Members: Anežka + Tim
The “Film and Literature” committee will explore wonderful events in relation to both the written and watched forms of literature. In the film side of this committee, we organise movie nights, trips to the cinema and similar activities. In terms of the literature section, we explore book clubs, writing roulette, Sinterklaas Book exchange, poetry night/poetry slam, guest author speakers and writing activities. Last year, the poetry night as well as the screening of Tim Burton’s Coraline were highly enjoyed.
Travel Committee

While literature might help us escape to foreign countries in our minds, Euphorion’s travel committee actually takes you there. Last year’s trip to one of Europe’s main literary cities, Vienna, was a great success, as tickets sold out in less than 15 minutes (take that, Beyoncé!). We visited the ballet “Im Siebten Himmel” in the Vienna Opera House, went on a day-trip to Bratislava and more! Other literary cities Euphorion has visited in the past couple of years include Lisbon, Sofia and Dublin, all of which were rated successful by the attending students. Join this committee to plan our annual trip of fun, excitement and travel!
Theathre & Culture Commitee
Board Member: Chloë
Literature is just one part of the beautiful world that is culture. In the culture committee we have room to explore other fun areas like art, food and music. Last year the committee had some great activities like a museum crawl and a painting session. We are aiming to organise one activity per month. Theatre is a big part of literary history, last year the committee organised several outings such as seeing a play and attending the theatre festival. If you already have some ideas bubbling up when you think of culture or theatre and want to develop skills in organising events, join our committee!
Magazine Committee
Board Member: Meltem
‘Erato’s Magazine’, named after one of the Greek muses, is a literary magazine which collects works from the members of the committee, UU students and teachers, and publishes these unique works (either credited under their name, anonymously or a pseudonym). Last year was the start of this magazine, thus committee- but now, the magazine has published two editions with more to come! You can also see special posts about literature and our magazine under the username @eratosmagazine on Instagram.
